Kirsty Innes, Artist
Kirsty Innes specialises in creative printmaking combining different techniques and hand-painted decorative ceramics. Her distinctive work reflects the influence of her locality and environment. From her formative years in rural Essex she developed a love of nature particularly hedgerows and wildflowers while her move to Hastings led to her signature Fisherman’s Huts prints and sea-inspired work.
Her early love of art led her to incorporate dedicated programmes as part of her 30 year teaching career in the primary sector. From a popular after school Art Club to an annual Exhibition and school productions, she was instrumental in bringing art to her schools. In 2013 Kirsty gained her M.A. in Contemporary Art and Artist practice from the Colchester Institute. This stimulated a renewed interested in developing and exploring her own work which was furthered with her move to Hastings in 2015 where she has been attending printmaking and pottery classes ever since. Discovering new skills in intaglio, relief and collagraph continue to shape her printmaking style while her ceramics reflect an expressive style developed through hand painting slip cast objects using underglazes and oxides. In 2023 her ceramics were featured in a local art show.
Kirsty Innes’ range features original artwork, prints, cards, textiles (bags and tea towels) and a collection of decorative ceramics.
